Weekly Update, May 18, 2020

Hello 2A Families,

We have an exciting week ahead with SMM Spirit Week!!! 😊 Attached is a flyer Spirit-Week-2020-Update that outlines the dress-up theme for each day.  I hope that this is fun for your family!  Send along a picture for each day and I will create a shared document for the class to see.

Important Calendar Update:

Friday, 5/22-No School for students-Teacher In-service day

Monday, 5/25-No School-Memorial Day

Zoom Meetings this week:

There are two Zoom meetings this week.  See Mrs. Martin’s email for the links.  The link will post in Google Classroom about a half hour before the meeting.  They are both important because Mrs. McMurray will be teaching a music lesson on Monday and I will teach a math lesson on Wednesday.  Please let me know if you cannot make it to either one.  I do not have the ability to record the Zoom meetings.

Monday (5/18) at 2:30 PM-Music

Wednesday (5/20) at 11:30 AM-Math Lesson

Learning Line-Up for the week:

This week, we will continue remote learning.  In language/reading, students will learn about common misspelled words (spelling), antonyms, and continue reading “good-fit” books on Epic!  In math, we are learning about solid shapes.  Students will identify solid shapes (cube, sphere, rectangular prism, cylinder, square pyramid, and cone).  We will also learn key vocabulary words: face, edge, vertex. In science, we will continue our study of birds to identify how birds move and identify the characteristics of birds’ bodies.  In religion, we continue to learn about our faith and ways we celebrate our love for God and the Church.  Students will also work in the Map Skills book and complete a Scholastic News issue about ice cream.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.  Have a great week! 😊

Blessings,

Mrs. Nicole Martin

My name is Melissa Morrier-Turk, I am a graduate of SMM (class of 1986) and have been a member of the parish community much of my life. I have a B.S. in Business with an emphasis in Human Resources from Central Washington University and have spent my 23 years working in this field, traveling all over the USA and Canada as an HR Director, as well as a corporate trainer. My husband Mike and I have two kids, our son is in college and our daughter is a Junior at AMHS. In my off time I enjoy running, cycling, hiking, anything outdoorsy really. I have absolutely loved working with and getting to know so many of the families here at SMM and am looking forward to getting to know you all better as part of your school community!
